Please join us in congratulating Josefin Forsberg for being selected as our Volunteer of the Month for October 2009!
Josefin has been with the Chapter for almost 1 year and has already made her mark within Disaster Response. As our Disaster Response Incoming Volunteer Coordinator, Josefin meets with every new response volunteer (in-person), directs the volunteers towards new opportunities, and provides the volunteers with the necessary training. This function is crucial within response because it allows the department to cultivate relationships with the new volunteers and engage them immediately. Our retention rate has increased tremendously since Josefin has assumed this role.
Josefin is very dedicated to her role as a Volunteer Coordinator and comes into the office at least two-days per week. She has taken the initiative to learn the various groups and activities within response so that she can effectively communicate and direct the new volunteers. In addition, she has created a SOP for her position and has developed survey questions to identify better ways to improve our policies and procedures.
