The Red Cross Invites Youth to One-Day Disaster Camp
(SAN DIEGO) – With this years Wildfire Season underway, the San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter encourages all youth ages 14-22 to get prepared! Join Red Cross youth from all over San Diego County for a one-day Disaster Camp on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Mira Mesa High School, 10510 Reagan Rd., San Diego, CA 92126. Learn all about the American Red Cross, how to be a volunteer youth shelter worker and how to make a difference by helping those in need.
The San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter believes youth have the potential to make a difference in huge ways. In our eyes, they are a vital resource bringing energy, innovation, and inspiration to the American Red Cross. Our goal is to provide young people with meaningful opportunities for education, training, and volunteer/community service so that they remain a part of the Red Cross family throughout their lives. Youth up to age 24 make up 35% of all Red Cross volunteers - we are 169,000 youth volunteers strong nationally!
For admission to the event, please bring a new, small teddy bear for children affected by disasters. Only 60 spots are available for the exciting event! Register today! To register for the event, please visit www.sdarc.org/camp. For questions or more information, please contact Amanda Cropper, Youth Outreach Associate at 858-309-1475 or Amanda.cropper@sdarc.org
