Andy McKellar began his Red Cross career as a volunteer with the San Gabriel Valley Chapter in Pasadena California, following the events of 9 –11. In 2003, he accepted a paid staff position with that chapter as their Mass Care/Logistics Specialist. In 2005 Andy came to the San Diego Imperial Counties chapter as the Disaster Relief Operations Associate, responsible for Mass Care and Bulk Distribution of relief supplies. In 2006, he was promoted to Manager of the Disaster Response Department. Andy served as the Red Cross’s Deputy Director for the 2007 Wildfire relief effort. He was promoted to become the Chapter Director of Disaster Services in August of 2008.

Andy is also the Vice Chairman of the San Diego County chapter of Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
